At Brampton on the A1 is a service stop with a Brewers Fayre Restaurant, McDonalds and a BP petrol station but if you are looking for something more different then we are definatley worth the five minutes drive to find us. We have ample parking at the rear, we are open all day, there is an enclosed garden for the kids & dog to run around in and the food is great.

Huntingdonshire is a historic county in England covering the area around Huntingdon, St Ives, Godmanchester, St Neots and Ramsey. Between 1889 and 1965 it additionally formed an administrative county. Since 1974 it has been administered as a district within county of Cambridgeshire.

Locals now tend to refer to Huntingdonshire as the general area surrounding Huntingdon to the west of Cambridgeshire to the Bedfordshire & Northamptonshire borders. There are many suburbs and villages including Hartford, Houghton, Wyton, Brampton, Buckden, the Offords, the Hemingfords, the Paxtons, Eynesbury, Eaton Socon, Eaton Ford, Southoe, Hail Weston and Sawtry. Nearly all of the these places have a pub & restaurant and you’d be unlucky not to find a good one.

There are some fabulous restaurants within the Huntingdonshire District, many gastro pubs and lots of take away restaurants. We had a look at the reviews on TripAdvisor to see how they all rank, to read more about click here.

The Exhibition Pub & Restaurant is located in Godmanchester, two miles from Huntingdon. For more information on how to find us click here.

Pubs with open fires in Huntingdonshire

There are a few pubs now in and around Huntingdon with open fires. They seem to have come back in fashion.

At The Exhibition in Godmanchester, 2 miles from Huntingdon we have an open fire as soon as the temperature drops and the nights draw in. It is a great focal point in our bar area.

The Old Bridge Hotel in Huntingdon often have their fire going as does The Mill at Brampton. There is a small fire in the bar at The Axe & Compass in Hemingford and The Pheasant out at Keyston has open fires in a beautiful old thatched pub.

Huntingdon Restaurants – Where is your favourite?

When you are looking for a restaurant what is important to you?

Whilst we were trying to write about our restaurant we fell into the trap of boasting about the best food, the nicest atmosphere, the best service, the most fabulous menus, great prices, good value and all the other stuff every biased owner of a restaurant would use.

We have a review page on our website and do well on TripAdvisor but you can’t please everybody. We work hard to ensure that The Exhibition is a great choice of Restaurant in the Huntingdon area.

We have just had the front of the building restored and the terrace at the front all replaced. We decorate the restaurant and bar every year to change the atmosphere for regulars and to keep it clean & fresh for everyone. We alter our menus with the seasons so there is always something new to tempt you.

When we visit other restaurants in Huntingdon we are always comparing with ours, some are very good and serve great food, some we find expensive, some are a little snooty and some not that individual but on the whole Huntingdon and the surrounding villages has some great pub/restaurants or Gastro Pubs. Funnily enough on TripAdvisor the restaurant currently ranked #1 in Huntingdon is a Thai take-away on an industrial estate.

The Pheasant at Keyston is at #2 and it is a beautiful pub in a very pretty village. It featured on one of Gordon Ramsey’s TV shows but since then has become part of the Huntsbridge group again, the same people that run the Old Bridge Hotel & Restaurant in Huntingdon which is ranked #3.

#4 is a pie shop? #5 is The Dragoon pub in Brampton that was closed last time I drove past. #6 is The Crown at Broughton which deserves to be higher up, great restaurant and one of our favourites. Pop Bellies on Huntingdon High Street is at #7 then The Darjeeling Indian Restaurant is at #8  before you find The Exhibition currently at #9.

TripAdvisor lists 57 Huntingdon Restaurants and as you will see, some are shops and others, cafes, chippy’s and takeaways but not a bad list to work your way through!
